As I write this newsletter the strong South Easter blowing indicates that spring is with us, as unfortunately is the Corona Virus which has now dominated our lives for six months. The good news is a move to level 1 would appear imminent, possible proof the worst is behind us.
In January 2013 I began developing a succession plan at Chalford Wealth when my stepson Jayden Alford-Loots joined the business. The plan was further strengthened when my son in law, Daniel Esterhuyse joined us in Feb 2019. He brought ten years asset management and financial planning experience with him . Both Jayden and Daniel are Certified Financial Planners (CFP®) and in fact Daniel has an MBA. They have both become integral parts of Chalford Wealth and are ably assisted by Courtney Smolders and Nikki Mocke. This dynamic team will provide the backbone of Chalford Wealth for many years to come.
Both Daniel and Jayden have recently become shareholders and directors of the Company. Needless to say my succession plan is right on track.
One month ago, I was diagnosed with rectal cancer and after dealing with the initial shock have set on a course of action that should hopefully lead to a full recovery. The course of action includes two months of chemotherapy and one, possibly two operations. I am just so grateful that the afore-mentioned succession plan is in place.
Over the course of the next couple of months, either Jayden or Daniel will be contacting you and will further enhance your relationship with Chalford Wealth. Rest assured your investments are constantly monitored and our relationship with our discretionary fund manager Miton-Optimal remains very much in place. Our investment committee meets on a regular basis and I look forward to being an influence on this committee for years to come.
We envisage my future role to be less about the day to day running of the business but more about having an involvement in the investment committees with particular focus on the off-shore markets as well as chairing our board of directors and most importantly ensuring we continue to provide outstanding advice and service whilst not forgetting the personal touch.
